AN HOUSE FOR JOHN
"Small, with two deep slits for eyes, the abrasive and sharp voice of someone who has smoked too many cigarettes and too many bottles drained, inveterate womanizer always led by his felt hat", John Lee Hooker is already famous around the world as the "King of Boogie Woogie", has recorded numerous discs with all European and American record labels, has played with an overwhelming amount of different musicians of which remained a friend and who often come to find and is already in its third marriage.
By his last wife, he married three years before in '75, just had two daughters who have now respectively 2 to 3 years, but the two have already planned to have many more children (and in fact will come to seven).
The only son had however many years before by his first wife now 33, he lives in Arkansas, where following the footsteps of his grandfather becomes the preacher of the Baptist church, but at least once a year is to visit his father.
REQUEST
For his work and for life that leads Hooker needs spaces clearly distinguished from domestic ones in which to make music and live his disorderly and noisy sociability. In particular it needs a big room with a bar in which to compose and try new pieces, do jam sessions with friends but also for parties, party or drinking wild away from the family looks.
Domestic space instead -even view projectors installed in the family composition, will have several bedrooms (at least 3 over the main to Hooker and his wife), a living room and a large kitchen where the family gathers for breakfast every morning even when Hooker remained to sleep for the hangover from the previous evening.
A third functional unit required is a space for guests clearly distinct from the family space, but mostly separate from those dedicated to music and socializing. In fact it will be hosted once a year the child preacher, like his grandfather, he considered unacceptable everything that did not concern the religious sphere and defined in particular the blues "the devil's music." However, this space will also have a link, maybe resealable or concealable, with that same 'social' space from which must be carefully isolated because (much more often than once a year) will also have to accommodate all guests Hooker that, the success of the festivals, are no longer able to come back in the evening in their own home.
